Whole School Careers Day – Friday 16th November
I am writing to inform you about this event which is taking place on the above date. This is an opportunity for students to explore post 16 options and identify links between education and work. To accommodate this, lessons will be suspended for the day and replaced with the following career related activities:
Year 7
PERIOD 1 SELF AWARENESS, RESEARCHING CAREER IDEAS/JOB FAMILIES USING ‘KUDOS’ CAREERS PROGRAMME AND ‘JOBS4U’ WEBSITE
PERIOD 2 GUEST SPEAKERS TALKING ABOUT THEIR PROFESSIONS
PERIOD 3 RE-VISIT’ KUDOS’, ‘JOBS4U’ - PREPARATION FOR YEAR GROUP PRESENTATIONS
PERIOD 4 STUDENT PRESENTATIONS & SPIN GAME (EXPLORING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE WORKING WORLD AND SCHOOL
PERIOD 5 AN OPPORTUNITY FOR STUDENTS TO FIND OUT ABOUT LOCAL COLLEGES, TRAINING PROVIDERS, A RANGE OF EMPLOYMENT SECTORS AND HIGHER EDUCATION
(Aviators and Engineers attend this session at 13.40 until 14.10. Mariners and Venturers attend from 14.10 to 14.40).
Year 8

PERIOD 2 GUEST SPEAKERS TALKING ABOUT THEIR PROFESSIONS
PERIOD 3 AN INSIGHT INTO VOCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
PERIOD 4 AN OPPORTUNITY FOR STUDENTS TO FIND OUT ABOUT LOCAL COLLEGES, TRAINING PROVIDERS, A RANGE OF EMPLOYMENT SECTORS AND HIGHER EDUCATION
(Aviators and Engineers attend this session at 11.50 until 12.20. Mariners and Venturers attend from 12.20 to 12.50).
PERIOD 5 STUDENT PRESENTATIONS
Year 9
In order to help with both the transition process from Year 9 to Year 10 and to prepare students for two weeks’ work experience in Year 10 students will be participating in a ‘Go to work with a parent/family member/friend day’
